This propaganda poster comes from a series of army behavior posters used during the Vietnam War. American advisers counseled the South Vietnamese Army (ARVN) to be more considerate of the people they were charged with protecting — for instance, to stop running over farmers’ chickens with their trucks. The ARVN had to overcome cultural differences with the rural population, as well as suspicion over its former association with the French colonizers.
This primary source comes from the Records of the U.S. Information Agency.
