In this cartoon Clifford Berryman illustrates the threat that strikes posed to the public in the post World War II era. In 1946, there were approximately five thousand labor strikes that involved nearly 4.6 million workers, a record for the United States. Several strikes even affected such important industries as steel, transportation, and coal, which could have greatly changed the economy if they had not been stopped.
