This photograph shows President John F. Kennedy meeting with representatives of the Girl Scouts of America in connection with the 49th anniversary of the Girl Scouts. In the foreground (L-R) are: girl scout Sonja Algren of Silver Spring, Maryland; Georgiana Belknap Edgar, the first vice president of the Girl Scouts of America, of Summit, New Jersey; President Kennedy; and girl scout Ellen Hooton of Chevy Chase, Maryland. The photo was taken in the Rose Garden at the White House in Washington, D.C.
