To the Hon. Grover Cleveland
President U.S.A.
Washington.
Dear Sir,
Recently I have returned from a trip to Hayti: Having had occasion to speak with several prominent Haytians about the next Minister U. S. may possible send down, I herewith wish to draw your attention to the fact that they all desired to have our Government represented by Mr. Fred. Douglas. Being
in the Haytian trade, I am convinced that no greater good could be done and a friendlier feeling exist between the two Governments, but that you appoint the said gentleman to be our Minister at Port au Prince. Any further information you may desire upon this subject, I will cheerfully give.
Very respectfully
Herman Crouze
