The original caption for this photograph taken by photographer Dorothea Lange, reads: San Leandro, California. Bunching young tomato plants on an Alameda County farm for one of the last shipments prior to evacuation. Evacuees of Japanese ancestry will be housed in War Relocation Authority centers for the duration.
