The original caption for this photograph reads: Marines undergo a check for radioactivity during maneuvers at the AEC Nevada Proving Ground after ocming out of the impact area. The atomic bomb was detonated on May 1, 1952, during the atomic training of the Marine Corps Provisional Exercise Unit which consisted of 2100 Marines from all posts and stations of the U.S. Marine Corps.
