This photograph shows F4Us and F6Fs flying in formation over surrender ceremonies taking place on the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay, Japan, on September 2, 1945. In a formal ceremony aboard the battleship, representatives of the Japanese government signed the Instrument of Surrender, officially ending World War II.
