The President received his morning intelligence and national security briefings. Later in the morning, the President spoke with Francois Mitterand, President of France and met with a delegation from Turkey. He spoke by conference call with Hosni Mubarak, President of Egypt, and then released a statement to the press regarding Operation Desert Storm. After swearing in Lynn Martin as Secretary of Labor, the President spoke on a conference call with Mikhail Gorbachev. He also held a meeting with Richard B. Cheney and Colin L. Powell to discuss Operation Desert Storm.
