Immigration agency investigative case files related to the Chinese Exclusion Acts (1882-1943) frequently contain photographs used to identify the persons covered in the files. This government-originated photograph is from the only currently known immigration case file for Dr. Sun Yat Sen, first President of the Republic of China, known as "the Father of modern China.
