Suggested Teaching Instructions

The activity itself is quick and easy to jump into without much prep or prerequisites. Students should work in pairs or small groups, no more that 4, to not only identify what each photo is but to place it among their timeline as well. Once each student or group has had time to complete the timeline, as a class you will then walk through the timeline asking the discussion questions.

Description

This activity allows students to create a timeline of important events from the Cold War with visual aids. The events span from the Truman Doctrine in 1947 to the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989. The students will be provided the 9 images and documents and be tasked in identifying the image and placing it 1-9 on the timeline based on when it occurred.
