Have students view the image and complete a document analysis worksheet. Once students are done with the analysis and journal entry, use it to conduct a class discussion on living/working conditions that led to the need for reform.
This activity will serve as an introduction to a lesson on industrialization. Each student is to imagine that he/she is a child working in a factory, and describe what life may have been like at that time.
