The original caption for this photograph reads: A wounded Marine lies on the floor of a helicopter during air evacuation to a field hospital. Navy corpsman Ira Levitt of Los Angeles, California, treats the Marine while Navy photo-journalist Jim Falk of Stewardson, Illinois holds the dextrose bottle and photographs the scene. The unidentified Marine was wounded during a search and destroy mission between Hue and Quang Tri, 20 miles south of the DMZ in South Vietnam.
