The Woonsocket Civil War Monument by J.G. Batterson was unveiled in 1870 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.
A granite statue of a Union soldier stands atop a tall granite shaft. On raised bands wrapping the pillar are the names of Civil War battles (e.g. Bull Run, Fredericksburg, etc)in which Woonsocket residents took part. The first Civil War monument erected in Rhode Island.
