Harriet Taylor Upton of the National American Women Suffrage Association sent this letter to Senator Dick regarding woman suffrage in Oklahoma Territory. She asks that the Territorial Committee remove the word sex in the clause of the Statehood Bill "which classes women with criminals and lunatics," because "although it is true that we are politically classed just this way, somehow it looks a little worse when we see it in black and white."
