The full caption for this photograph reads: San Francisco, California. Evacuees of Japanese descent among a contingent of 664, first to be removed from San Francisco, awaiting buses at 2020 Van Ness Avenue to transport them to Santa Anita Park assembly center at Arcadia, California. Evacuees are transported later to War Relocation Authority centers for the duration.
