This bride and groom, photographed a few days before their wedding by Francis Stewart on September 10, 1942, were interred at Tule Lake Relocation Center. Tule Lake, outside Newell, California, was one of 10 relocation centers established following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. More than 120,000 people of Japanese descent were removed from their homes on the West Coast amid fears they would support Japan during World War II.
