This item is the Petition for Citizenship of Mikael Amerikian of Portland, Maine. Mikael Amerikian, an ethnic Armenian born in Turkey, petitioned for United States citizenship in Portland, Maine, on July 31, 1931. A survivor of the state-sponsored mass killings of Armenians by the Ottoman Empire between 1915 and 1917, he immigrated to America with his wife Nortivee and three-month-old child Verag, on June 26, 1921.
