This record certifies that the testimony given by Joseph and David Kalf during the investigation into the diamond cutters industry was true. It comes from a file concerning the diamond cutting and polishing industry which was a relatively new and small industry in the U.S. prior to the turn of the century. The file pertains to an investigation into whether the alien contract labor (ACL) laws applied to the influx of Dutch and Belgians who immigrated in the mid-1890s. This document was digitized by teachers in our Primarily Teaching 2014 Summer Workshop in Washington, DC.
This primary source comes from the Records of the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
