President Jimmy Carter hosted Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin at the White House on March 7, 1977. Though Rabin was soon replaced as Prime Minister by Menachem Begin, with whom President Carter negotiated the Camp David Accords, Rabin later returned to power and shared the 1994 Nobel Peace Prize for the 1993 Oslo Accords. Rabin was assassinated in 1995 by an Israeli student dissatisfied with Rabin's concessions during the peace process.
