The Brigadier General Lloyd Tilghman Statue by F. W. Sievers was erected in Vicksburg, MS in 1926.
This equestrian statue depicts the Confederate Brigadier General Tilghman dismounted in a dramatic pose--with a sword raised in his right hand while his left grabs the reins of his steed. A broken gun carriage lies under his horse's forefeet. Commanding the 1st Brigade of Major General William Loring's Division, he was killed May 16, 1863, near the close of the battle of Champion's Hill.
