The original caption for this photograph reads: Baseball as treatment for convalescent soldiers in London. Rival teams are "Shell Shockers" and the "Gassers," men from gas and shell-shock wards, with a Red Cross officer for umpire. Baseball is the doctor's prescription for shell shock cases and has proved very effective medicine.
