Alfred P. Thom, Jr., assistant general solicitor for the Association of American Railroads, sent this letter to Senator Henry F. Ashurst, chairman of the Committee of the Judiciary, asking for the opportunity for the railroads to present their views on the issue of an equal rights amendment.
