This is President Ford's Bicentennial Address to a special joint session of the Virginia General Assembly. The speech is written on numerous pages and has speech notes to help guide the president. Within his speech, President Ford credited Virginia as the foundation for American heritage and addressed the principles of shared state and federal power as well as self-rule, representative democracy, and civic responsibility.
