Description

These welders were the first women to be engaged in actual ship construction in the United States. This image comes from of a series of photographs from the Historical Branch of the War Plans Division in the War Department. The images were assembled by the Committee for Public Information and considered to be the “Unofficial Collection of World War I Photographs.”
