This monument of Stonewall Jackson by F. William Sievers was unveiled in 1919 in Richmond, Virginia. Built on Monument Avenue, the equestrian statue to the Confederate General is over twenty feet high. The inscription at the base reads “STONEWALL JACKSON” and BORN 1824, DIED AT CHANCELLORSVILLE 1863.
There had been some opposition to the statues along Monument Avenue in Richmond since their installation because of their celebration of the Confederacy. In 2020, the Stonewall Jackson Monument was vandalized during protests. It was removed by City of Richmond on July 1, 2020.
