This report documents Japanese aerial attacks on merchant ships serving not only as cargo vessels, but often also as Army troop transports in the Leyte Gulf, Phillippine Islands. This attack on the SS Alexander Majors is not specifically identified in the report as, but likely was accomplished by, a “suicide plane” – or Kamikaze.
