The Sitting Bull Monument by Korczak Ziolkowski was unveiled in 1953 in Mobridge, South Dakota.
Located on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in eastern Corson County, South Dakota, the monument consists of a concrete base, a polished granite pedestal with the inscription “Tatanka lyotake. Sitting Bull, 1831-1890,” and granite sculpture of Sitting Bull. Ziolkowski, the sculptor of the Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills of South Dakota, used an 11 ton piece of granite from that enormous monument to create this memorial to Sitting Bull.
