This panel from the 1939 U.S. Constitution Sesquicentennial Commission commemorates the Inauguration of the first President of the United States, George Washington, 150 years after his swearing in. Sworn in on the balcony of the “Publik House,” later Federal Hall, in New York City, this lithograph is one of the few images of Federal Hall before it was demolished in 1812.
