Anne Martin, president of the Nevada Women’s Civic League, sent this petition to Congress on behalf of the League. It conveys the resolutions adopted by their state convention on April 27, 1916, favoring passage of the Susan B. Anthony Amendment that would become the 19th Amendment. Women in Nevada had won the vote in 1914.
The letterhead includes a map of the United States showing where suffrage had been achieved for women. States in white, namely western states, indicate full suffrage. Shaded states indicate partial suffrage. Dark states indicate no suffrage for women.
