This is a copy of an engraving, published in 1808, by W. Ketterlinus, based on John Trumbull’s 1786 painting “The Death of General Montgomery in the Attack on Quebec.”
This copy of Trumbull’s painting is part of a photograph collection held by the National Archives, Joseph Abel Photographs of Washington, D.C, 1899–1932. Joseph Abel was a scientist with the Department of Agriculture Bureau of Animal Industry and an amateur photographer.
