Description

At age 17, Mamie Doud sat for this 1913 photograph wearing a white summer dress and holding an open book. Born in Iowa, Mamie spent her teenage years in Denver, Colorado, where she attended public schools and a finishing school.

In 1916, she married Dwight D. Eisenhower, a young West Point graduate who became the 34th President of the United States.
