This letter is from the Chief Quarantine Officer for the Philippine Islands to the Surgeon General of the United States Public Health and Marine Hospital Service in Washington, D.C. The Chief Quarantine Officer reported that during his trip to Amoy, China, he examined many Chinese persons detained for being afflicted with trachoma and was able to pass many of them through due to being able to provide medical treatment or prolonged observation. The Chief Quarantine Officer also suggested that the matter be taken up with the State Department to look into stationing a regular medical officer from the Public Health and Marine Hospital at Amoy.
