Jesse Cornplanter, a World War I veteran and Purple Heart recipient, was a Seneca artist and author who was the last known direct male descendant of Cornplanter, a Seneca chief during the American Revolution era. He also held several important ceremonial Seneca positions, including ritual chief of the Long House.
