Description

President Herbert Clark Hoover was about three years old in this tintype. Before they were orphaned, Hoover and his brother and sister spent their early years in West Branch, Iowa, where they hiked, explored, swam, and hunted for fossils and agate in the glacial gravel along the railroad tracks.
