Description

Pvt. Jacob Shoemaker of Pennsylvania served in Col. Henry Haller’s Battalion of the Flying Camp. He was in the Battle of Long Island, New York, and was discharged in March 1777. His children submitted this illustrated family record (Fraktur) in German in support of their claim for a pension based on his service. The claim was approved in October 1852, and the children received $257.05.
