I the undersigned Governor of the State aforesaid do certify that as an Election by joint ballot of both Houses of the Legislation of said State held on the fifteenth day of December, 1847. Sam Houston was elected a Senator to represent the State of Texas in the Congress of the United States for the term of six years – from the 4th of March 1847 –
In Testimony whereof I have caused the Seal of the State to be hereunto affixed –
