This cartoon features Congress reacting to a truck load of bills from the White House arriving before holiday recess. The assortment of bills includes key pieces of “Second New Deal” legislation, such as the Social Security and Labor bills.
The cartoon was originally published in the Washington Evening Star on June 7, 1935. It was drawn by Jim Berryman, a Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist and son of the noted Washington, DC, political cartoonist Clifford Berryman.
