At the signing ceremony were Secretary of Education Richard Riley, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Anne Jarvis Jefferson, Verelett Allen, Captain Robin Forster, Dr. Nelba Chavez, and Sally K. Ride.
Title IX was passed as part of the Education Amendments Act of 1972. It prohibits sex discrimination in education programs supported by Federal dollars.
