This series of Civil Rights Sculptures by James Drake in Kelly Ingram Park were unveiled in 1993 in Birmingham, Alabama.
Located in the famous Kelly Ingram Park (previously known as West Park) and across the street from the 16th Street Baptist Church, these series of sculptures depict several of the major events in Civil Rights history that occurred in the area in 1963. These events include the firehosing of demonstraters, the use of dogs on protestors, and the jailing of young activists. The sculptures are placed within the walking path of the park compelling visitors to see the events from the point of view of the Civil Rights activists.
