The original caption for this photograph reads: 2000 feet southeast of GZ. Looking West. Dwellings completely destroyed by blast and fire. A hospital building is on left (group 20).

This image comes from a series of photographs of fire damage to civilian population and buildings in Imabari, Oita, Tokyo, Aomori, Akashi, Hachioji, Ube, and Nagoya, used in one of the many reports documenting the effects of U.S. strategic bombing in Japan.
