This aerial photograph, taken on July 31, 1997, shows the John F. Kennedy Space Center on the east coast of Florida. The Kennedy Space Center, administered by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), launched the Apollo missions to the Moon in the 1960s and 1970s and continues to be the base for the space shuttle launch and landing operations. Several of its launch complexes can be seen in this photograph.
