In this activity, you will be going through photographs during the Great Depression along with a page of the National Industrial Recovery Act and a telegram.

When looking at the photographs, answer the following questions:

  1. What was the first thing you spotted in the photo?
  2. Where is this taking place?
  3. Are there people in the photograph? What are they like?
  4. What do you think about the photograph?

After reading the page of the National Industrial Recovery Act, answer the question: Was the Supreme Court right in striking down an act that was made to better the economy during this period?

After reading the telegram from W. G. Blalcok, answer the following questions:

  1. Was Blalcok justified in asking the senator for an embargo on Mexican workers?
  2. How does this telegram show certain beliefs during times of hardship?
