Discover the Declaration
In this scan of The Declaration of Independence, you will compare it to what we read in class. You will use the tools and zoom in to see minute details of the document. After you inspect and analyze the document, you will then study the portrait of the writing of the document. After analyzing this piece of art, I want you to write a dialogue between the men pictured in the painting. The dialogue must contain elements of the declaration itself. Remember in class, we discussed the rhetoric that Jefferson uses in many of the paragraphs. We talked about the reason why he uses these. We also discussed what each declaration Jefferson wrote meant in plain words. You will have the dialogue centered on the plain words you paraphrased. You want Jefferson to take your paraphrase and add the flowery language to it. The conversation should revolve around paragraphs 3-29. You can use your textbook to read the printed text.
