In this handwritten letter from Queen Elizabeth II to President Dwight D. Eisenhower, she explains in more detail her recipe for drop scones that she has sent to the President and recalls his visit to Balmoral. The letter is on Buckingham Palace notepaper and signed "Elizabeth R".

Queen Elizabeth wrote this note after seeing a photo in the newspaper of President Eisenhower barbequing quail. She was reminded that she had promised him her recipe for scones during his visit to Balmoral. The recipe includes castor sugar, an English term for superfine sugar.
