Jacqueline Kennedy hired a world-class French chef to orchestrate elaborate state dinners. The same chef prepared daily meals for the President and his family. Kennedy preferred the heartier foods of his New England upbringing. Clam chowder was one of his favorites and a recipe frequently shared with the public.
